Your story is unique. Your care should be, too.
A Calling Found in Compassion
My journey into mental health care wasn’t just a career choice—it was a calling that became clear during my time as a Registered Nurse at Austin State Hospital.
There, I worked with individuals whose mental illnesses were truly out of their control. I saw firsthand that a mind can become sick just as a body can, and that realization shaped my entire approach to medicine. I found a profound sense of alignment in that work; I never had that "I don't want to go to work" feeling because I knew I was exactly where I was meant to be, serving those who needed a steady hand.
The Path to Beacon
After years of learning from seasoned nurse practitioners with decades of experience, I returned home to the High Plains. Coming back to Amarillo after 30 years has been a highlight of my life, and it fueled my mission: to make high-quality psychiatric care accessible to our region.
Building Beacon Psychiatry & Wellness allowed me to step away from the constraints of large clinical systems and create a practice built on integrity. Being an independent practitioner north of Lubbock allows me to:
Prioritize the Patient Experience
You aren't a number in a system; you are the focus of our time together.
Offer Rapid Response
I’ve bypassed the traditional "six-month wait" to offer same-week or next-week appointments.
Provide Highly Focused Care
Independence means I have the time to listen fully and respond thoughtfully.
As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), my training is rooted in evidence-based research and a deep understanding of the whole person. I am licensed to serve patients in both Texas and Kansas.
I specialize in the treatment and management of complex mental health conditions, including:
Depression and Mood Disorders
Anxiety Disorders and OCD
Bipolar Disorder
Thought Disorders
My goal is to empower you with knowledge. I am here to answer your questions and help you understand the nuances of what you are experiencing, staying informed on the latest clinical research to ensure you receive the best possible care.
Meet Jessica Hyde, MSN, APRN, PMHNP
Beyond the clinic, I am a proud Amarillo local. I believe that stability is found not just in medicine, but in the things that ground us.
When I’m not working with patients, you can usually find me walking my dogs, Hessa and Bruce, through the trails of Palo Duro Canyon. I cherish time spent with my friends and watching my daughter, nieces, and nephews grow. Whether I’m listening to music or enjoying the expansive High Plains horizon, I stay connected to the community I am so grateful to serve.
